POST YOUR PIX of chows doing ZOOMIES...you all have seen it and laughed till you cried. Your chow suddenly get a burst of energy , pin their ears back, tail down ...and race in circles like the wind is under their wings!!
Just add your photo in the text box by uploading with the little camera icon and click ADD Comment. Try not to load too large of photos. You can adjust size via the camera icon when you upload

Any news Jan on the cinnamon boy? I sure hope he finds a home. He is so handsome!!!

Just wanted to let you all know the photo contest will start this week. I had some photoshop glitches last week and hand to delay things a bit. Will announce on Worldchow Magazine in the next day or two. THANKS!!!!

The pictures Sandy posted weren't the ones I saw, but it looks like it may be the same dog. In the photo I saw, he didn't even look that badly matted, but the face looks a lot the same. Also, even though the color in the photo I saw looked to be more cinnamon than shaded red, but that could just be the photo. I was pretty sure they wouldn't leave the coat on in a climate like they have in that part of southern Utah. Where did you get these photos, Sandy? BTW, I am still working on Tom, and I think he may have been giving it some thought, but he hasn't budged much. So, I am still looking for help if any of Love's friends have it. Love, the website is www.bestfriends.org. I think I put in a search for "chow dog", or went through the Adoptable Animals page.
Thanks gals!

Jan Thank you for the info on this dog! Is THIS Jazz

I just want to be sure I'm posting the right dog. Poor thing. What a matted mess. It takes a lot for a chow coat to mat!

Hi Jan, Thank you for this info...is there a website with a photo of the boy? I have a couple of friends who have recently lost their chow who may be able to help.

Thank you, Love

As you gals all know, I don't show chows anymore, and in fact, Tom says when attrition takes the two girls we still have, we aren't getting any more... :>( I don't know about that, but we'll see, I guess.) Anyway, this leads me to what I would like for you to check out. I was "playing" on the Best Friends Animal Shelter website last weekend, and wanted to see what chows they have. (You are probably aware Best Friends is a sort of "last chance" no kill shelter near Kanab, Utah. It is featured on the Animal Planet show "Dogtown.")
Any way, on the chow page there is a beautiful 8-year old cinnamon boy chow named Jazz. I wish you would check him out. He looks beautiful!! The information they give on the site is that he and a number of their other chows were rescued from a shelter in New York that had fallen into disrepair. I inquired about him, and while they acknowledge he has issues, a lot of it sounds a lot like what I have come to know as the typical chow temperament-- aggravated by a complete lack of socialization. In fact, he sounds pretty good for having lived in a shelter most of his life. (I do have this email, so if you would like to see it, back channel me at chowwow@esedona.net and I will forward it to you.)
I really want to go get him, but I would have to stop by the divorce lawyer's on the way home. I just feel this is one of the dogs we bred for show that didn't quite make it...maybe even because of his color. He wouldn't even be alive if one of us hadn't made the decision to breed a litter of show dogs. Yet here he is never having lived in anyplace but a shelter.
Some of you may have much better contacts than I for wonderful pet owners who would like to have this boy in their home.
At any rate please go to the Best Friends site and check him out.
Thanks...
BTW, I used to live down-river from Hershey, PA. I swear sometimes the smell of the chocolate would drift down where I could smell it. Probably was my imagination but was fun to imagine. You will have a great time there!
Bet to you all! Jan
